This 1877 landmark county jail building has been adapted for reuse as a contemporary art museum. Our 1984 design included a 8,000 square feet expansion to the existing building, keeping the historic building as the prominent approach and focus for the project. A multi-purpose facility in a small town, the expansion was designed to showcase the Old Jail through landscaping and sensitive architectural design of the expansion. The project included a courtyard sculpture garden, landscaped parking and other site work.
In 1996, our expansion added an additional 6,750 square feet including new galleries, office and preparation remodel, and archival storage. The expansion is wholly compatible with the original design.
In 2008, we completed a second expansion and remodel to increase office space and a catering kitchen.
